Over the past year, Island Health has organized immunization clinics with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to the population living within the Island Health’s region.
People from across Vancouver Island have stepped up to assist over the past year– and we need your help again.
Join the campaign to immunize our communities
We are increasing our clinic capacity again in response to the growing impact of the Omicron variant, to ensure we can provide booster doses to our population – and finish our campaign sooner than originally planned.
Team-based approach
Depending on the day, location and clinic requirements, you may play a variety of roles designated for health professionals, including:
- assessing patients
- preparing vaccines
- administering and documenting immunizations
- monitoring patients, post-vaccination
- and more
We will be contacting applicants as quickly as we can to assess their qualifications, fit and availability, and to assign them to an immunization clinic.
Flexible shifts
Time commitments are somewhat flexible. Clinic hours and duration will vary by community and month. Most clinics will be operating 7-days a week, morning to evening, from now until March.
We ask you to consider signing up for consistent shifts (specific days of the week, or any schedule for a specific month) and indicate your preference and availability for days, evenings, and/or weekends on your application.
Supporting your safety
Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided to support your safety when working in the clinic.
How to apply
Island Health will be collating responses from all of these sources and connecting with interested individuals as soon as we are able.

Help us Promote Vaccination
Getting the word out:People are most influenced by those they trust. Help us encourage each other to spread the word about who is eligible to get their booster dose now, and how to schedule an appointment. Information on eligibility and registration:islandhealth.ca/covid19vaccine
Follow our social media channels and share when we share, or post a selfie and tag us @VanIslandHealth or use the hashtag #VaxChamp.
Help a family member, help a friend:There will be people who need help registering and who need support to get to a clinic. These efforts make a real difference – and can be offered locally. This is an incredible opportunity to mobilize and be a force of good!
Spread vaccine confidence:It is ok to have questions about the vaccines and how they work. Turn to trusted resources for answers, and when you’re a part of conversations where the topic comes up, share the facts and build vaccine confidence in our communities.
