The Department of Psychiatry of Island Health has full-time and/or part-time opportunities for Psychiatrists providing Adult General Psychiatry services. An interest in ECT and neurostimulation would be an asset.

The General Psychiatric Service is a core component of the Victoria Mental Health Center located at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. The General Psychiatry Service is a community mental health outpatient clinic focused on people with severe persistent mental illnesses including Psychotic Disorders, Bipolar Disorders and Severe Depressive Disorders. Patients may have comorbid, anxiety disorders, personality disorders medical conditions and addictions.

The successful candidate will become a valued member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team including case manager, nursing, occupational therapy and psychology working together providing comprehensive recovery orientated and PSR informed care. Collaborative care integrating primary care partners and working closely with family and social networks of patients is part of the clinical model.

Telehealth to support remote communities is a requirement of this position.

On call responsibility is mandatory for Island Health psychiatry services.

As Island Health is part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program there is opportunity for training of medical students and residents and applying for a clinical appointment is expected.

Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.

Administrative duties of the position include attending clinical team meetings and providing reports to the Department of Psychiatry meetings.
